A total of $100,000 to be shared by four rural communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
UFA Co-operative Ltd. (“UFA”) announced today that a total of $100,000 will shared by four rural communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan through the UFA Agricultural Community Foundation (ACF) Rural Communities Grant Program. The following four organizations will be receiving a portion of the $100,000 available:
- The Kneehill Historical Society, Three Hills, Alta. - $15,000 towards a UFA Theatre and Seminar Room
- Rimbey Agricultural Society, Rimbey, Alta. - $30,000 for an upgraded kitchen project
- Weyburn Agricultural Society, Weyburn, Sask. - $25,000 to help with their Exhibition Hall repairs
- Wrentham Community Centre, Wrentham, Alta. - $30,000 towards a curling rink revitalization
Communities were encouraged to apply for a minimum of $10,000, up to a total of $100,000 for capital projects that support recreational, educational and cultural facilities, and programs that provide enrichment for the agricultural community. Applications were accepted from June 14 until August 31, 2024, and the UFA ACF was thrilled with the response this year, noting many worthwhile community projects.
This Rural Communities Grant Program has been an exciting first campaign for our newly established foundation and we’re thrilled by the results in our inaugural year. This program was built on the success of the former UFA Rural Communities Foundation who previously funded twenty community projects in Alberta. The UFA Agricultural Community Foundation will continue to evolve, adapting to provide impactful opportunities in support of our rural communities. We look for projects that will enrich education, recreation and culture for the betterment of agricultural communities.”
